Cottesloe Primary School (CPS) is committed to a policy of environmental sustainability.
The P&C Green Scene Committee (GSC) was established to allow for a forum where environmental initiatives can be formulated, discussed and ultimately implemented.
The GSC seeks first and foremost to work with school staff, students and parents to foster and encourage awareness of environmental issues and steps that can be taken to minimize our environmental footprint at all levels – from the school, through to families and right down to the individual. In line with this GSC will work with the Year 6 Environment Committee (comprised of teachers and students) to assist with their school waste management scheme.
GSC is also working with the Planning Committee for CPS’s 125 year celebrations to make the event as sustainable as possible. This will include seeking to use environmentally friendly products for food handling and serving, sourcing providers who have their own environmental accreditations and introducing some stall holders who encourage thought and awareness on environmental issues.
As well as these projects GSC is also working towards renewing CPS’s WaterWise accreditation, making CPS a gold star Energy Usage School (?) and actively seeking grants for environmental initiatives, from tree planting right through to solar panel installation.
If you are interested in getting involved in helping out in any way with GSC please contact Sara. We have a lot we’d like to achieve and any assistance would be valued!
