Japanese Language Program – Years 3 to 6

At Cottesloe Primary School, students from Years 3 to 6 participate in a rich and engaging Japanese Language program. This program supports the Cross-Curriculum Priority: Asia and Australia’s Engagement with Asia, as outlined in the Australian Curriculum.

Students learn through two interrelated strands:

  • Communicating, which includes the sub-strands:
Socialising, Informing, Creating, Translating, and Reflecting

  • Understanding, which includes the sub-strands:
Systems of Language, Language Variation and Change, and The Role of Language and Culture

Our aim is for students to develop not only the knowledge and skills required to communicate in Japanese, but also a deep appreciation for Japanese culture and a lifelong love of language learning.
