Absence from school

We ask for your fullest co-operation in seeing that your child attends school each day. Absence from school places hardship on the pupil.

Under Department of Education and Training regulations, absence from school should be for illness, or medical or dental appointments.

Absences for all other purposes are generally discouraged. Students are expected to attend school for the entire day, ie 8.50 a.m. – 3.10 p.m. It is policy that assignments or worksheets are not prepared in advance for children going on holidays, although teachers will indicate areas that will be covered while the child is away.

Please report your child’s absence from school via Connect (preferred way) or email your child’s teacher. As the teacher’s may not get time to check their emails in the morning, we would prefer that you use the Connect site – this cannot be done through the Connect app but through the Connect website using your browser https://connect.det.wa.edu.au/ Go to Connect Home Page, log in with your P number and password and if you are on a desk top you will see Send Absentee Note or if you are on your phone, scroll down to Send Absentee Note.

If you have not reported your child’s absence by 9.30am, you will receive a message from “CottSchool”. The message will have a link attached. This link gives you access to submit and notify the school of your child/ren’s absences.

Please note that the current phone number used for absences will no longer function.

There will be more changes in the future.

Thank you for your patience.
